Dawn Staley has her South Carolina Gamecocks off and running well, after 21 games into the current season.

On the road last Sun.(Jan.27)opposite Arkansas, Staley’s Gamecocks (18-3,6-2 SEC) outlasted another foe, thanks to a 43-40 win over the host Razorbacks.

In besting the ‘Backs many miles away from the friendlier confines of Colonial Life Arena, the Gamecocks rejoiced in the aftermath of a victory that was their fourth straight.

Contesting an Arkansas team that they led by six (28-22) at the break, the triumphant Gamecocks had to fight off a resilient home team which refused to bow out without a fight.

The tightly fought Southeastern Conference (SEC) tilt showcased opponents that played almost on even terms throughout the game.

Ashley Bruner, the only South Carolina player scoring in double figures, paced the Gamecocks attack with 11 points.

Arkansas (14-6, 2-5) was led by Jhasmin Bowen, who contributed 13 points.
