|Nine Benedict Alumni to be honored|

Nine honorees are being recognized June 22 by the Columbia Benedict College Club #2 during a ceremony on Friday, June 22, at Brookland Baptist Church Banquet Center.
The event, Champions for Tiger Pride, will begin with a reception opened to attendees at 6 PM. Mrs. Thema Salmond, a previous honoree, said,"...this will be truly a memorable gala in that it will highlight the efforts and dedication of Benedict alumni who have willingly gone beyond the call of duty to live out the institution's mission: "To be a power for good in society".
These nine honorees are being recognized for their notable contributions as outstanding leaders at their alma mater and throughout the larger community.
MRS. RUBY LEEVY JOHNSON ’61 (POSTHUMOUSLY), Community leader, wife of Former I. S. Leevy, Community activist, founder and director of the Leevy Funeral Home
MR. WILLIAM WHITNEY ’62, Former CEO of Greenville Urban League; member, Benedict College Board of Trustees
REV. WILLIE WILSON ’77, Retired pastor, Chaplain of Columbia Benedict College Alumni Club #2
MRS. JOYCE DICKERSON ’93, Committed Public Servant, Member, Richland County Council; President of the Women’s National Association of Counties
DR. ROBERT L. SCOTT ’68, Retired College Administrator, Columbia Area Community Leader and Councellor/Advisor
REV. DR. SAMUEL K. LEWIS ’78, Pastor of First Calvary Baptist Church, State and National involvement in Baptist Organizations
MRS. BARBAREL BLAKELY ’56, Retired Educator, Extensive involvement in local, state and national alumni planning
MR. CHARLES BLAKELY ’62, Retired Educator, College Men Mentor; involved in Fraternity planning and operation State and National levels.r
